Beadwork, Jewelry
I have been making beaded jewelry for more than 20 years, but it wasn't until I completed the jewelry program at Haywood Community College in 2002 that it became more than a hobby for me. After several years of struggling with torches, files, and saws used in silversmithing, I realized just how much I missed beadwork, and I returned to it with a new enthusiasm which has only grown as I continue to learn. I am constantly inspired to make new pieces, whether it is by a new technique I want to try, or a stunning piece of jewelry I see in some lavish costume drama, or, more often, the graceful forms and colors of flowers and trees that catch my eye. It is nature, in particular, with its ever changing face mirroring our own mutability, that inspires me to want to create.
