Painting
Born a maker, I discovered an innate need to fulfill my creative passion at a young age. The dichotomy between my life as an artist and the manifestation of my craft defines me. Intrigued by the tactile component of creating, I was first drawn to textiles and earned a B.F.A. in Fiber Art. My work has slowly evolved from cloth to wood and salvaged goods over the past decade. I collect building scraps and other discarded materials to use in my paintings. It is rewarding for me to see these otherwise wasted materials find a new life. Enamored by the landscapes and views of Western North Carolina, my latest work is heavily influenced by concepts and techniques developed through my work in textiles. By combining a strong pattern with bold colors and textures, these mixed media pieces become a visual patchwork.
